"But that's good, isn't it?" It was a murmur and he dipped his head to he could press his cheek against his neck where he could listen to his heart.

Obito shifted to rest his chin against the top of his cousin's head, looking back at the trees and the house behind them. "Yes," he agreed. "That's good... there are good things, too." The last part was spoken more quietly, mostly to himself.

He kissed his shoulder and squeezed him. "Yes, there are."

[mooneye]

He squeezed him back, then let him go. "Anyway, this is actually one of my more cheerful techniques, believe it or not. The rest are... Well. But I can do pleasant illusions."

"As can I, it's one of the less tiring things I can do right now."

[mooneye]

He made an eager, interested noise. "Show me?"

[youngesthokage]

He blinked, surprised. "You want a genjutsu?"

[mooneye]

"Sure. Something nice." He paused. "I could even do it with you, if you wanted to layer one up. But I'd like to see how good you are, anyway."

[youngesthokage]

He tilted his head a moment, then reached up, resting his hand over his eye. "Alright then, I'll give you a genjutsu Obito-nii." It was a murmur, and there was a soft smile in his tone.

[mooneye]

He went still, waiting, one corner of his mouth tugging up a bit. This could be interesting.

[youngesthokage]

He stayed still, thinking for a moment before smiling to himself, keeping his hand where it was as a he carefully started with sound. The rush of feathers through the air, or a long bird, but the crackle of fire at the edges of it, like each wing beat was tipped in flame.

Drawing the sound in, he added sensation, heat like the fire in the sound, the hot brush of feathers instead of the sear of flames as a weight settled on Obito's shoulder, soft little noises and heartbeat clear enough, fast as a bird was meant to be even as the sensation of heat rested most of the way down his back in a fall of tail feathers. There was even the sharp scent of ozone and fire with that underlying note that said 'bird'.

Finally, he pulled his hand back, so that Obito cold see the glimmering gold and the soft almost flames of the bird he'd created.

He gave a thoughtful little twitch of movement when the sensation started up. Oh, but that was good. It sounded real. Felt real. The weight and the clutch of claws against his shoulder could have come from a actual bird--though a strange bird, something fantastic.

When Itachi removed his hand Obito turned to look at the creature. It felt warm. Like living feathers, living fire that did not burn. He could see the delicate lines of the plumage, the stiff pinions. Even feel its light breaths.

"Ah." He lifted a hand and touched his fingers to the bird's breast. "This is very skillful, Itachi."

The bird shifted it's wings, one golden eye peering sideways at him as it cocked his head to better take him in, the beak lightly catching at his thumb as it made a little trill. "Do you like it?"

[mooneye]

"Very much." He smiled at the scratch of the beak. This was an excellent genjutsu. "Is this one of those that rises from its own ashes?"

He nodded, smiling and just holding the genjutsu as he watched him interact with it. "Yes."

[mooneye]

He stroked it, watched it for flaws in the illusion. There were none. It was lovely. Very real. He moved the bird down to perch on his forearm the way he would have moved one of Madara's hawks.

[youngesthokage]

It moved like any other bird would, though it flared it's wings, sending off a shower of sparks that were hot for only a beat before they faded into nothing. "It's not very detailed, but, well, I don't get much cause for nice illusions."

[mooneye]

"I like the nice ones best." He watched the bird.

[youngesthokage]

"So do I." It was a murmur and he shifted to lean on his side, the bird, nipping at his fingers gently before trilling loudly and beating it's wings to actually take off into the sky this time.

[mooneye]

He was silent, watching it rise. The beat of the wings, the rise of the bright body toward the sky. Yes. It was an excellent illusion.

He held the illusion until it was out of line of sight, then left it go with a lingering wash of noise. "As decent as you hoped?"

[mooneye]

"More decent." He blinked up at the empty sky once the bird was gone and then turned and smiled at his cousin.

He gave him a shy smile right back, flushing slightly. "I'm glad."

[mooneye]

He leaned close and pressed their foreheads together, as he had done once before. Just brief, warm touch of skin on skin. "What else can you do?"

"All sorts of things." He blinked at him, staying still.
