That made him relax a bit. He wasn't sure why. It would have... bothered him, he thought. If Mikoto had withdrawn from Itachi in such a way.

When Obito didn't press, he relaxed, turning back to his stirring, clearly devoted to his given task.

Obito finished up with the rest of the kitchen and then simply came to stand behind him again. Leaning, just lightly. Part of him did want to pursue the subject of his aunt. But. Itachi had agreed to come along for the visit. That was good enough for now.

He leaned back into him as soon as he felt the contact, relaxing some.

And Obito just stayed where he was, cheek resting on his cousin's shoulder. Watching. Until things started to look done to him and he reached around to take the spoon from his hand.

He stilled, letting him have it but simply pulling his hand back to his side so it wouldn't be in the way.

Obito turned the stew around with the spoon a few times before handing it back to Itachi. "It's pretty much done. You can turn it off when you're ready." He slid away, back toward the oven to turn that off as well.

There was no pause, the stew promptly being turned off before he hesitated, not sure if there was any particular thing Obito wanted to do with it.

"Just let it cool down, hm?" He pulled the rest out of the oven. Not bad. Not fancy, but not bad.

He huffed a soft breath and incline dhis head. "Yes of course."

"So I can make dinner," he commented, sounding pleased. "Wasn't sure that was going to turn out so well, honestly."

"It's more than fine." He smiled at him. "I'm only going to be here fora night before going home, after all."

[mooneye]

"Then I can just buy you things. Or get them somewhere, anyway." He sounded satisfied with that. "Home. Where do you live now, exactly? In the Uchiha district? Or no?"

He shook his head at once. "I haven't been there for over two years. I live in the Hokage apartments near the center of the village."

He frowned very slightly, at that. "Do you like it there?"

[youngesthokage]

He was quiet a beat. "I like it more when I'm not alone there."

[mooneye]

"...You'll have me there, for a while." Until the Kiri-nin got back, at any rate.

He smiled slightly and turned so he could hug him. "Okay."

Obito turned his face against Itachi's hair and shut his eye. Forgetting everything for a moment and just enjoying the touch, and wrapping his own arms around him to hold him back.

He closed his eyes and reveled in his warmth for a moment before pulling back. "Food?"

"Yeah. Get bowls and things out, hm?" And he went himself to move everything else over to the table.

"Of course." He hummed softly, then contentedly set about doing just that.

Obito moved it all to the table and then slid a chair out for Itachi, and went and perched on the other. He waited for his cousin to get a serving and then helped himself, though he wasn't particularly planning on eating. It was just nice to be part of the meal, a bit.

Itachi... clearly had a large appetite, starting with a decidedly generous helping once he was settled. "It smells good."

"Hmph. Well, let me know if it's palatable." He leaned forward on the table, stirring his own helping around a few times but mostly watching Itachi.
