He blinked, then tipped his head back, looking at him with curious eyes.

Obito just looked back. Then lifted a hand to skim the loose hair away and bare his cousin's neck, and pressed his mouth there. He began to open his mouth, to bite the way he would have bitten a lover, then stopped and simply withdrew.

His breath caught anyway, understanding the motion, but he never actually looked away, watchful.

He sighed and stepped back, looking around the rest of the kitchen. "I could make bread but that's going to take forever."

He stopped himself from leaning after him and looked back to the stew he'd stopped stirring. "Whatever you'd like to make."

He goes about the kitchen putting other things together. The quick bread that inn's sometimes prepared. Something he's never done for himself before, but he's watched it done, and he has a sharp memory.

He stayed where he'd been planted, following him around with his eyes, observing everything closely.

Obito went about picking through the rest of the kitchen. Biscuits were easier than bread. He had made them when he was a kid, sometimes, and he was half surprised that he remembered how. But it was easy to scratch them up, to go and make sure what Itachi was stirring was still all right, to put them in the oven and wait.

He was half turned around, humming. "You're really good at this."

[mooneye]

"Nah." He laughed. "I have a good memory, is all. I've seen it done before."

[youngesthokage]

"I assure you it's not so simple. Were that it was."

[mooneye]

"I used to make stuff to eat when I was a kid." He shrugged. "When I didn't feel like going out. Or just going to your house."

[youngesthokage]

"I learned rice. It was the final true success."

[mooneye]

He laughed, shaking his head. "Rice," he scoffed. But didn't comment any more than that on it, just kept going with the food and then began to clean things up, enjoying the smell of things cooking.

"There are many people who can't cook rice."

[mooneye]

"You'll have to show me this perfect rice, you know. Before I'll believe you."

[youngesthokage]

He looked around the kitchen, then hummed. "When we go back home."

[mooneye]

He was silent a moment. "I'd like to visit Aunt Mikoto. If you want to come with me."

[youngesthokage]

He quieted for a moment at that. "...I suppose I'm due a visit to her."

[mooneye]

"I'm sure she'll be glad to see you." He wasn't actually totally sure about that but he thought she would be.

[youngesthokage]

"She's always glad to see me." He gave a little noise, vaguely nervous. "That's never in debate."

[mooneye]

That made him relax a bit. He wasn't sure why. It would have... bothered him, he thought. If Mikoto had withdrawn from Itachi in such a way.

When Obito didn't press, he relaxed, turning back to his stirring, clearly devoted to his given task.

Obito finished up with the rest of the kitchen and then simply came to stand behind him again. Leaning, just lightly. Part of him did want to pursue the subject of his aunt. But. Itachi had agreed to come along for the visit. That was good enough for now.

He leaned back into him as soon as he felt the contact, relaxing some.
