"Would he?" Obito sounded a bit eager, there. He followed Itachi a bit behind and to the side, watching his back. And also looking out at the village, experiencing an odd mix of joy at being home and--maybe apprehension, though he wasn't sure about what exactly.

[youngesthokage]

"Yes, he truly loves having someone strong to fight." He scoffed softly. "I'm always a bit beat up after we've sparred."

[mooneye]

"Ahem-hem. Are you?" And it's perfectly clear what he interpreted sparring as.

[youngesthokage]

There was a beat of pause before he turned brilliantly pink. "Fine, then too."

[mooneye]

Obito smiled and half-winced at the same time. "But you're... it's what you want, right? You trust this guy? I mean, not just with this stuff but... he's got to be pretty close to the village's internal affairs."

[youngesthokage]

"I could defeat him if I truly needed to as long as I didn't let him get close enough to use his sword." He nodded once. "I've not felt threatened by him since I took him home though."

[mooneye]

That made him a uneasy. He refrained from pointing out that Itachi might not be able to defeat him if he needed to now, in his current condition. "It's one of Kiri's swordsmen?" he asks, sounding grim. Of the original seven, most had gone missing-nin.

"He is." He could see the worry in Obito's eyes and his lips quirked "He's a closet romantic."

[mooneye]

That made him smile, startled. Though the worry didn't abate. "That is certainly not something I ever expected to hear said of one of them."

[youngesthokage]

"Well, he likes to think he's scary." He paused then. "He's really not. No more than Sensei is." He paused a beat. "Not that people don't think -he- is frightening as well..."

[mooneye]

"Itachi, my dear, I'm afraid I'm going to have to let you know that you've got a very unusual grasp of what's scary and what isn't."

[youngesthokage]

He gave him a slightly puzzled stare for a moment. "How so?"

[mooneye]

"The swordsmen are frightening. So is Ibiki, for that matter. It's just that you aren't afraid of them. Most people, you know..." he gestured out toward the village below. "...they would be."

[youngesthokage]

He heaved a sigh. "It's because of how they're built isn't it? Yes they have presence, but Sensei is a softy and so is my lover really."

[mooneye]

"Hmph. Well, if you say so." He only shook his head, not quite convinced.

[youngesthokage]

"Sensei is about the same age as you, isn't he? If not the same age?" He paused doing math. "Yes, he's only nine and some change years older than me, like you are."

[mooneye]

"Yeah, that's right. I knew him back when he was slightly less frightening."

[youngesthokage]

"He's only frightening because he needs to be, not because he's actually scary Obito-nii."

[mooneye]

"Ah, I know." He shrugged, walking with his hands in his pockets, balancing on loose stones along the ridge. "Same as the rest of us, really. We do what we have to do."

[youngesthokage]

He hummed a soft affirmative. "The biggest protest I can think of is that he's closer to mother's age than yours. My lover, not Sensei Imean."

[mooneye]

"Huh! Really..." He was genuinely surprised. "I assumed it was someone more your age. Or even my age." He shook his head. "But then I thought at first he had to be an Uchiha, too."

[youngesthokage]

His flush deepened. "He's only a couple years younger than mother, actually."

[mooneye]

He was quiet for a while, after that. "So quite a bit older than you." He mused. "Ah. And you are very young, for someone like that..."

[youngesthokage]

There really wasn't much dancing around left. He drew a deep breath.... "It's Hoshigaki Kisame."

[mooneye]

That it might have been that particular missing-nin had occurred to him, of course. Still, it was different to hear it said. To know. Obito took a sharp breath.
