After finger-combing it a few more times he lowers himself back down, sitting on the floor with his back to the couch and pulling his hair around so that it is reachable.

He pushed up so he had his hands free and reached to start brushing, getting the last few tangles before setting the brush aside and running his fingers through the strands. "Bet it's not tugging your scalp anymore now."

"This does feel a lot better." He pulled his own hand up through if a few times. "All new."

He hummed softly and rested his hands on his shoulders, kissing the top of his head.

Obito tilted his head back to look at him, reaching up with his right hand to touch Itachi's left.

He hummed a curious note at him, lifting his head so he could meet his eye.

He just looked up at him. Noting the sweep of the dark straight hair, the eyes, the lips, the curve of his throat.

He tilted his head a little, curious but quiet over him.

He frowned just a bit. Just the slightest tensing of his expression before he shifted and turned around, facing Itachi and the couch. His gaze dropped down to his cousin's stomach and he sort of... allowed the full truth of the situation with the Kiri-nin to creep back up on him. He had been repeatedly forcing it back out of his thoughts.

He huffed softly and reached to rest his hand on top of his head. "I'm going to be very unhappy if you frown at my belly every time you think of my child. It's strange enough without that added bonus."

That got a tense little wince of a smile as he looked up at him, eyebrows drawn together but one corner of his mouth jerking up a bit. "Is there really a baby in..." Like it might still not be true, but he didn't quite finish.

He considered a moment, then grabbed his hand, pulling it to himself and pressing it against the swell of his belly. "Feel. Just... feel."

He went tense, desperate for just a fraction of a second to draw back. Because he didn't really want proof but well... he was curious, really. Though he has been sort of ignoring the evidence since the first startling realization, part of him did want to know...

He held his hand more tightly as the man tensed, pressing his fingers against the swell there. Yes, the baby's movements weren't really feelable to others yet, but the sense of life was undeniable to even the most mediocre of nin who had any sort of sensing ability. Still, -Itachi- had started to feel the movements of the child, so... it wasn't impossible that Obito might too.

It was strange. Not what he had expected, exactly. The curve was firm, under his hand. And there was... yes. All right. A flickering of life that he could sense there. Deep in, something with its own energy, a little pulse of secret chakra. He raised his other hand, dropped it, then raised it again and lay it close to his other. His right and left picked things up differently, sometimes--Uchiha, Senju.

He stayed still, breathing carefully as he watched him. "I just... started to feel the little one move a few days ago. After Kisame left. I hadn't told anyone yet."

He shook his head. Just a disbelieving, wondering little movement. Not exactly frowning anymore, but staring like he wasn't quite sure what to think. He could feel the warmth, the hard roundness, the breaths Itachi took. "Is it moving now...?" he asked slowly.

He hesitated, then gave a single nod. "It's been reacting to you."

That caught him off-guard. Because it made it sound like a person--and it occurred to Obito for the first time that it was a person, sort of. Not just something that had happened, a problem that was part of the Hoshigaki problem. He smoothed his hands along to Itachi's sides, and after considering for a moment bent and pressed his unscarred cheek against the belly.

"In spite of the entire... stuck as a woman thing, the little one didn't really feel -real- until they started moving around." It was a murmur, and he hesitated before resting his hand on Obito's hair.

Obito just stayed still, sort of distracted. "Do you think of this as..." He wasn't sure how to word the question exactly. "Are you glad?" And he shifted just a bit, leaning his cheek a little to the left. And there, because he had trained himself to be sensitive to tiny shifts in the world around him when he needed to be and because he was paying complete attention--he felt something. Very small, the tiniest little flutter. And he drew a sharp breath and froze.

"I... yes. Yes I think I am." It was a murmur, and he watched him, staying still under the older man's focus, though the baby had no such qualms, by some method or another being aware enough of being paid attention to move around more.

[mooneye]

"But you're not totally sure." It wasn't quite phrased as a question. But he was fascinated now. Paying close, careful attention, drawing one hand closer to his cheek to feel the movement against his palm as well.

[youngesthokage]

He flushed some then. "The little one was an accident, but... I don't have any particular interest in not having had this happen either. Just... well. I'm a man, being a mother never crossed my mind."

[mooneye]

"Accident," he repeated. "It must have been very surprising for you." And he shifted to get more comfortable sitting on the floor. "...You know I've been a woman before, with this sort of jutsu, and I've never had anything like this happen." He drew back just enough to give Itachi a look that spoke of suspicion for just how much and in what way he was doing what had led to this with the Kiri-nin.
