He gave him a sideways look. "Not Kakashi?"

"...No. Not Kakashi." A pause. "Maybe Kakashi. I don't know."

[youngesthokage]

"Because he did something that you can't unsee?" He gave him a sad smile. "That's why I have issues with mother at least."

[mooneye]

"I forgive him. You know, we've talked about it, and everything." He paused, looking down at his own hand for a moment. "But... yeah. It's difficult."

"Mother and I... haven't. She knows, and she's waiting for me to decide to bring it up I think." He sighed softly.

[mooneye]

"Poor Mikoto," he said quietly, just thinking aloud. She had been so kind to him when he was a boy, with no parents of his own to go to. "What happened between you two, exactly?"

He was quiet for a beat, looking to the side. "I watched her kill father during the day of the purge."

[mooneye]

Obito was silent, at that. "Do you want to forgive her for it?" he asked.

He was quiet for a moment. "I don't blame her for it. She just... scared me, and I can't understand how."

[mooneye]

Obito thought back on seeing Rin die. That moment of absolute pain. "Of course she scared you," he said, like it was simple. Then, more thoughtfully. "Do you think about it a lot?"

[youngesthokage]

"No. I tend to not think about it at all, actually. Not unless she's gotten Sasuke to pester me into seeing her for dinner."

[mooneye]

"You might think about it," he suggested, slowly. "If you want to understand."

[youngesthokage]

"I am aware of that. It... Not now. Just... I need to tell Sasuke about these things, eventually. He was unconscious the night of the purge and we... never told him about the reality of how things happened."

[mooneye]

"You don't have to," he murmured. "Some things do well as secrets."

[youngesthokage]

"No. It's not a have to, it's a need to. I just... Not yet." It was a murmur, and he paused, closing his eyes. "Things won't... can't resolve until he knows."

[mooneye]

"Well." Obito nodded his understanding. Though if it was up to him, he thought, he wouldn't bother revealing the whole truth to the kid. Sometimes people were better off left unaware of such things. "I'm here now, too. I'll help if I can."

He was quiet for a moment. "It's not one of those things I think you can help with." He looked back to him. "But you can give me a foot rub, that would be immensely good."

That made him laugh. "I happen to be excellent at rubbing things."

[youngesthokage]

He snorted softly. "Your phrasing almost makes me worry for my virtue Obito-nii." It was a murmur, and he flashed a tiny smirk.

[mooneye]

Obito smirked back at him. "Yeah, well, maybe if I didn't have Hoshigaki Kisame to worry about. As it is, I promise you that this foot rub will leave your virtue mostly intact."

He blinked a couple times, honestly surprised by the reaction, which got a wide eyed look from him before he hummed lowly. "Only mostly? I see."

Obito was sort of a wild animal. Not shy, or prude. In fact, very much the opposite. He laughed, a raspy, joyful sound. "Of course if you wanted a backrub, well." He turned to Itachi slyly, raising his eyebrows up and down.

He flushed brilliantly at that, genuinely having no idea how to react as he looked away from him, though a small smile was on his lips.

Obito watched him with a new kind of attention, interested in how he reacted. That little smile. But he was grinning himself. Very relaxed, really just enjoying the teasing and the game of this. He reached out to brush Itachi's hair with his fingertips, very lightly. "You're cute like this," he said, repeating his words from before.

He peeked sideways at him at the touch, finding himself unable to come up with anything to say in reaction to the compliment. Still, neither the smile nor flush left him and he didn't shake off the contact.
